One of our passengers spotted several pair of bufflehead ducks--not sure how much longer they will be with us. Yes, there was a breeze, temps were hi 40s / lo 50s -- all in all not a bad day to be on the river.  John was able to get photos of the lighthouse and the NC ferry FORT FISHER.  Capt. Mitchell hailed SOLOMON  T on the VHF as we approached in the ferry channel.  Keep us in mind when you are traveling in the Lower Cape Fear region. Blowing in from the SW, we were getting 15--20 knots with higher gusts. The sea state was choppy and the tide was running hard. A local sailing club was busy with an inside race and they were all working hard. Sunny bright with a few clouds. Give us a call to reserve your passage. Our new coamings (the vertical board around the cockpit) are in place. We have rigged a temporary staff for the flags and signals.&lt;br /&gt;The white ibis chicks on Battery have been entertaining and are now up and flying, move off the island with the adults. The oystercatcher chicks seen earlier are are not as visible now.&lt;br /&gt;Yesterday we saw an osprey with a fish flying right over the boat!&lt;br /&gt;NOTE: Wed July 25 will be the last day for ticket sales before I leave on the CGC EAGLE.&lt;br /&gt;When I return in late August passenger runs will resume.
